   ive just recently moved from australia to dublin, pls tell me the most direct bus out to blackrock ( even better if it goes near carysfort ave ) or should i stick with the 17 bus that stops just outside nutgrove???

   The 7 and 45 both go along the coast from the city centre through Blackrock Village. The only bus that goes via Carysfort Ave. is the 114 which has a sporadic service from Blackrock Dart Station up to Sandyford Industrial Estate

   Are you coming from the city centre to Blackrock? If so, then the best way is the DART train with a transfer to the 114 as noted, which serves Carysfort Avenue.
   
   There used to be a direct bus from the city centre to Carysfort Avenue, the 6/6A, but the genii in CIE thought it was a bright idea to get rid of it in the 80s when the DART first came on-line and create the 114. And to be frank, I don't know which was used more, the 114 or the 6/6A. (Anyone know for sure?)
