buslanes and qbc's
(10 posts)-
my problem is with buslanes and qbc's i am a private motorist who drive to work every day and pay road tax of over ¤250.00 a year for limited use of the public road space while at the same time bus lanes and qbs's are going up quicker them quick lighting and the public service vehicles that can use them pay less then ¤90.00 road tax a year. is this reasonable, let them have buslanes and qbc's if they want them but let them pay for them thought fare value road tax and let the companies/indivuals ie the public service vehicles who use these buslanes and qbc's supplement the contruction of them.Posted 3 years ago #

Think you'll find bus lanes and QBC's more than pay for themselves in terms of time savings for the possible 70-90 odd passengers per vehicle. Why should bus passengers be held up by hoardes of private cars 80% of which have one person in. Long may the increase in bus lanes and QBC's continue

i am a private motorist
Why don't you ride the bus, then? Stop polluting the Emerald Isle with your motorcar.
You won't find sympathy on here declaring yourself to be a "private motorist"...and following that, what is motorism, some kind of political belief like communism, socialism, capitalism...???Posted 3 years ago # -
Ah sure with the about of "private Motorists" e.g, one person in there X5 beemer, driving down the bus-lanes in the morning, you would think they were Car lane's anyways!

Hmmm....Reckon the Road Tax figures are somewhat behind the times too..
When`s the last time you tried to Insure a Large PSV Anthony..?
However there is a valid point for consideration here,as the present methodology of QBC planning and development is WAY too slow and haphazard....Posted 3 years ago # -
sure lets talk about tax and insurance.
take a psv car. road tax ¤72.00, insurance ¤3,409.00, nct ¤48.00 for a Merc E330 now for a private indivual the relevant cost is road tax ¤1,343.00 insurance ¤897.00, nct ¤48.00 sure a bus is not the only one that uses a bus lane a taxi does also and could have one passenger only.now dublin bus road tax ¤307.00 insurance - nil because they self insure themselfs. sure i in favour of bus lanes but let everyone pay there fair share.Posted 3 years ago # -

"forget the buses and put more luas on the roads"
So how do you intend paying for them? It costs about one tenth the amount of a tramway to put in a QBC/Guided busway. And they can be built in far less time.

a bus is not the only one that uses a bus lane a taxi does also
Now that has to be banned altogether. No taxis are allowed on the North and South Busways in Pittsburgh, Pennsyvlania, USAthe QBCs simply must have that level of exclusion to them in order to be effective. That and make the Luas Line A corridor between Heuston Station and Connolly Station a shared-use bus-and-light-rail-only corridor.

Sure...and the more air pollution due to the cars jamming up every thoroughfare, let everyone pay their fair share of the Kyoto fines that will follow (Ireland's already facing a round of those).
forget the buses and put more luas on the roads
On the roads, did you say?? The days of the DUTC are long gone. Light rail, like heavy rail, belongs off the motorist's right of waythat way, you can speed past the long lines of traffic...Posted 3 years ago #
