For those that didn't get the news yet...
Three more departures is the plus side. The minus side is that there is no more service to St. John's Wood; the bus is being cut back to Watery Lane in the AM and Woodford in the PM.
Always thought this to be the oddball route in the 51 series, what with not serving the Naas Road corridor at all, instead going to/from Clondalkin via the N4 and Palmerstown...would have used a different route number myself, but what works is what works.

Have to correct you, Al. The 51D has not been 'cut back' to Watery Lane - it has been extended there to take in Clondalkin Village on its itinerary. It still passes by St. John's Wood. Anyone previously using the service from there has simply to walk an extra half-minute to the main Fonthill Road and catch it en route.
It has always terminated at Woodford in the PM outbound.

Have to correct you, Al
Nope...you just have to correct DB, who state explicitly on that page I linked that "Route 51D will no longer operate to or from St. John's Wood".
There is also no mention of St. John's Wood anywhere on the new 51D timetable...just St. John's Road West, where Heuston Station is. I do of course remember that DB is not immune to giving out wrong info...Posted 3 years ago # -
not to or from but through. St johns road west is in st johns wood and this is mentioned as fonthill road where st johns road west meets same.

Looking at the routing it seems clear to me, any locals in St. Johns would know where to go.
