45B - Seen on O' Connell Street
(4 posts)-
A few weeks ago in the early afternoon, I saw a wheelchair accessable bus with 45B written on in the northboud lane on O'C St outside number 59.
Mountjoy Square was its stated destination. Was this a driver messing about or a confused driver meaning to put up 145?

Most of the wheelchair accessable buses(AV) dont have 145 on their digital scroll, as they are rarely on the 145 route. 45B is the only number that will come up with Kilmacanogue and Mountjoy on it. Its better than nothing.

That's quite miserable...having limited numbers on the digital "scrolls", right?
Agencies like New Jersey Transit have all route numbers on their system programmed into their bus destination sign computers, no matter what garage a route may originate from. Really helps when it comes to transferring individual buses from one garage to another, to boot, or routes being dispatched from multiple garages. They even have this system on buses operated by independent bus companies under contract to NJ Transit.
Besides, when was the 45B discontinued?? That's been a while, yes? Makes no sense to use a defunct bus route number, especially for the wrong route. Is this part of what helps DB maintain that "surplus"?? (Might be interesting to note that the 45B never shared part of its route with the 45, unlike the 45A...)Posted 3 years ago # -
The main reason why Donnybrook Garage has a limit on numbers appearing on the scrolls of its AV buses, is because they don't want them to stray onto routes to which they aren't allocated.
