no timetables
(20 posts)-
how come there are no timetables at the bustops? If u r not from around here u must guess what bus goes where and when. This is very frustrating and I wonder why no one seems to care. After all we are paying for the bus fare, so how about a little bit of consideration.Posted 3 years ago #

because they get vandalised.Get your lazy arse into head office and you'll find loads of timetable info, thus ceasing the need for all your previous guess work. Thats if its not too much effort.
"After all we are paying the bus fare".....Yes,and?Posted 3 years ago # -
''Natascha'' has a good point. Unfortunately Sandy, for some people it is too much effort to go into head office and neither should they be expected to. People don't have time to stand at a stop in the hope of a bus arriving, research has shown that people are happier when they have information - even if that information might tell them there will be no bus for 2 hours, they can make an informed decision and either wait or make alternative arrangements.
I would imagine the level of vandilism to timetables is small and is probably confined to certain areas. This is no excuse to leave stops bare without information.
Natascha, You will pleased to notice new style timetables placed on bus shelters around the city, these include both timetables and a local area map of nearby routes. It would be nice to see these extend to bus stops also.

Yes i agree that in an ideal world every bus stop would contain the required information, but the reality is they don't.Maybe Natascha uses the bus in one of the "certain areas" where vandalism of bus stops and shelters occurs.
True informed people are happier. If information makes them happy they should aquire some of this information. There are many ways for the uninformed happyness seeking passengers to obtain information about bus routes and timetables. As i mentioned earlier. They can go to HQ.No1 expects anybody to do this, but they do have that option so there is no point in moaning just because its too much effort for them.
Or even easier again they can go to DB's website and find the information there.Provided they have internet access of course....which Natascha obviously has.
So the information is readily available.People just couldn't be arsed finding itPosted 3 years ago # -
Sandy, why should people have to go into O'Connell St to find out about their local bus service? We own these buses and we are entitled to better than that, so please lose your intolerant attitude to people who quite rightly do not think having to go to O'Connell St is not good enough. On a related point, as far as I know the bus text system is still working - text bus48a (or whatever route it is) to 53503 and you should get the next 3 departure times in each direction.Posted 3 years ago #

Richard,no,i will not lose my intolerant attitude towards lazy people who expect everything to be handed to them on a plate.
What do you expect? Are DB to sent people around the doors with timetables now?
What happens if you want cinema times?...you go to the cinema and get the listings/you check the teletext/you check a website.
What happens if you want train times?.... Answers, as above.
What do you do if you need information for ferry sailings?....Same again.
So why do people expect it to be different for bus times from Dublin Bus?
"Having to go to O'Connell St is not good enough"...Blinding statement of ignorance and laziness that has taken Ireland by storm in recent years.
While your giving buses away i'll have Av279 please. Thanks very much. Ye big knobPosted 3 years ago # -
Sandy, sometimes circumstances mean people have to catch a bus on the spur of the moment, I'm sure these people would check out the web if they could or indeed they may have a timetable at home, but for whatever reason they find themselves needing to get a bus from a to b immediately. Surely it would be of great benefit for these people if the stop they go to has a timetable. It's just convenient, you're probably right saying a lot of people want things handed to them on a plate but unfortunately thats how people are nowadays, Dublin Bus can either move with these times or be left behind, I think expecting a bus timetable to be on a bus stop is not being unreasonable, if you were forced to catch a train tomorrow and went to the station but found no information on the next arrival you would be a bit annoyed, and rightly so, it's the same for a bus passenger.
It may be of interest to people to know that the current timetables can now be found in the phone book and independent directory, which is very handy.

Sandy and AD11, wouldn't your time be better spent suggesting that bus timetables be available at every newsagent, and that a CIE office be opened in the South City centre instead of or as well as in O'Connell St which basically is knacker land? I would not be surprised if it was one of you that asked me for a light upstairs on the 65B last night - and I don't think it was a Carrolls no.1 he wanted to light either.Posted 3 years ago #

well well a Snob in our midst?? Not !!! (you do travel on the 65B)...anyways the 65B doesn't travel the southside, it's the west... Like hello!...
and as for timetable being available in newsagents, why not have them available after mass on sundays as well while we're at it Richard(DicK)... Why Nothead off too Argos In The Square, I hear they have LIVES available on Page 566... you strange Silly Boy...

P,again i have to agree that having a timetable at every stop would be all nice and dandy, but they don't and people should realize this by now, with the exception of new arrivals.
Im only speculating but maybe all stops are been converted to shelters with timetables? ad11 you should know??
If someone has to catch a bus on the spur of the moment it is because of some un for seen circumstance.People should be more organised and not so quick to take their frustrations out on others. How hard is it to carry a timetable in your wallet/purse....

Richard you well and truly are a knob.Didn't think you were a hob knob though. You should take your head out of your arsehole and get a life.Im guessin you travel

Folks, my only point is that people should not have to traipse into O'Connell Street if they want a timetable, nor should they be subjected to abuse for saying, as I do, that having to do so is not good enough. I hope my views are reasonably clear on that.Posted 3 years ago #

Daddy buying him a car? He gets on the 65B....hardly snob land!!

All bus-stop,s in Dublin are being upgraded at the moment ,maybe that is the reason for the shortage of timetables on the stop,sPosted 3 years ago #

ok ad11 im sorry but i just got the impression that you knew everything.
Richard, the only thing that is reasonably clear is that you are a DicK! One does NOT!,get it,NoT! as in not having to,traipse into O'Connel St for a timetable.
Can you not read or are you just blindingly stupid?
busfreak....it was his comments rarther then what bus he uses that brought on the "Still waiting for Daddy to buy you a car comment"

Cheers
