Bring back a Dalkey-Dublin bus this Summer
(11 posts)-
Once again it looks like the people of Glasthule, Sandycove and Dalkey will be left without any direct transport to or from The City Centre on Weekends, when DART closures resume on the South side this Summer. Contrary to some perceptions, there is a very substantial demand for public transport in this area - it is not all Mercs and Audis. CIE's behaviour in not providing a proper service has been utterly shameful. I hope as many people as possible write in to Db (or CIE group) to demand that the no.8 bus route be restored on weekends during the DART closure period.Posted 3 years ago #

what is this bus that only operates from dun laoghaire to dalkey, it happened last saturday when i was waiting for a 45A. it used a double decker but it was only going 2 minutes up the road, it seemed a total waste,
so why cant they just extend that bus into town along the old 8 route?

That's the 59, you fool.

no fool, the 59 doesnt use double deckers as they use single deckers cbecause it wont fit up through killiney and there was a 59 behind it.
it also said dunlaoghaire-dalkey on it
if it was a 59 wouldn`t 59 be displayed on the bus?

Now look here, you idiot. It could have been a 59. Occasionally, deckers are used on the 59, when a midibus isn't available. The midibuses are actually longer than the double-deckers anyway (believe it or not), so with a bit of driving skill, negotiating the twisty bits wouldn't be a problem. 59 may not have been available on the destination blind.

Richard, The bus you saw sounds like the Dun Laoghaire - Dalkey shuttle that ran while the DART upgrade works were in place last year on the Southside. It trundled between the two stations regularly at weekends then. Whenever there is DART disruption it tends to appear. And yes, usually a double decker too.

now, grunt futtock, it was a dmd display saying dun laoghaire dalkey , not mackintosh park via killiney, if it was a 59 dont you think the driver would have displayed 59 in the window?
and two 59 buses dont leave dun laoghaire at the same time because of its 40 minute frequency because WV6 was operating behind it with 59 on its dmd.

Now listen here, It could very easily have been a 59. It isn't always possible to display the number in the window. I've just about had enough of you.

I saw this 'mystery bus' on a Sunday last summer - a double-decker simply displaying Dun Laoghaire & Dalkey in the DMD. I assumed it was running as a DART replacement.Posted 3 years ago #

now runt buttock or whatever you call yourself
to display a numer in the window what would you need?
i know
, a marker, a blank page and some celotape,it is not that hard to write 59 on a page, well it probably isnt for most normal people excluding YOU!
