I will start the ball rolling. For me it has to be the 38 -soul destroying sitting in traffic going nowhere, although I have to say the 77a out to tallaght was a nightmare and the 41 was pretty brutal aswell took forever

86 anybody. One bus a day in each dirction. So bad, they have not even bothered to change the bus stop poles from the old orange logo to the new white one. Axe the 86, not the 48a

The "worst" factor has been the influence of so-called "transport ministers" that favour the automobile against any type of public bus service and throw "privatisation" into the mix without realising the ramifications. None of the bus routes should ever have been axed. It's fixing what wasn't broken.

In fairness the routes which come once an hour, or once a day are usually relaible. What gets up my nose is when you stand at a bus stop beside a timetable saying buses every 10 minutes, and you've been standing there over half an hour!

the 39?? With the long loop, the centre, traffic in village at peak hrs(apart from the A),and not forgetting all them buggies. Whats the story.. Is it free buggies for moving to Blanchardstown these days? They could nearly do with another bus,39 Buggy Bus,working between the Centre and Ongar. An Av with no seats downstairs, just spaces for buggies.Probably still get full though

In my opinion the worst route has to be the 50/77 group, with so many smokers/hash heads and drinkers, man i'd rather travel on a bus in the west bank area than the Tallaght area, what a pack of ScUm out there.... no monies would pay me to work in Dublin Bus's Ringsend Garage...

the 122, it is always packed full with people and it has single deckers allocated to it all the time!!

switch the 121 to single deckers and the 122 to double deck all the time,
    it makes sense, doesn`t it?

Saturday I sailed the 12.5 miles from Malahide to Dun Laoghaire. We averaged only 5.7 m.p.h. and the journey took slightly over two hours. The journey back by Dublin Bus took more than 2.5 hours. Dublin Bus and Dart are in a dead heat in the competition for who can move people least efficiently, given modern technology and a publically funded infrastructure.

No time estimate for driving the same route? You neglect to mention that there is no direct bus between Malahide and the former Kingstown.

The Worst Bus Route is the 17A. Always packed, Always Single Deckers, and Always 20 Minutes Late

Either the 114 or the 75 for the same reason. Fine if you live at either temrinus, but impossible to judge what time the damn thing gets to you if you're in the middle. If it's going to get to you...

Having just missed a 65B, I recently boarded a 49 at The Square, Tallaght, naively believing that it was going to take me to Terenure sometime that day. The driver said nothing to disabuse me when I specifically asked for the fare to Terenure. Well, about 3 hours later, when we were still doing a grand scenic tour of the Dublin foothills I asked when we were likely to reach Terenure and he said no time soon. I got off and started walking, and found myself at the 15 terminus almost immediately. Folks, AVOID the 49 unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Ah yes, the 49 was probably doing the tour of Ballycullen Estate and possibly Bohernabreena beforehand?? The 65 and 65B take a much more direct way into Terenure village from Tallaght village. A question - Which of the Tallaght buses takes the most direct route into Eden Quay? Say boarding at The Square and disembarking at Eden Quay?? I'd say the 77?

they split there granted but the distance to the square is the same as they both go opposite ways around the block and meet in the same place.

I would say the 50 is a bit quicker - while the ground covered is the same, the 77 passes through more traffic lights and the loadings at stops in Tallght Village are heavier than those on Mayberry Road, add to that the traffic levels in the village.

From experience I have also found the 54A to be just as quick as a 77 or 65. This route travels through the quieter roads of Perrystown and Kimmage. The loadings can be average and a lot of the traffic lights past KCR are pedestrian lights.

Be warned: the 77 and 50 are about to be combined into one route to save resources.

It will be called the 77, and will run from Ringsend to Tallaght via City Centre.
