More Southside DART closures
(3 posts)-
The Irish Times reports today that the Southside DARTs are going to stop on weekends again in Summer for 3 months from the end of June. Can this be true? I am checking up on it.Posted 3 years ago #

Folks, I have just been informed by mr Brian Fitzpatrick of the DASH (DART upgrade) section of Iarnrod Eireann that there will indeed be another 3 months of Southside DART weekend closures from approx. end June to September. Marvellous. What chance this time of a weekend revival of the no.8 bus? Precious little i'm afraid.Posted 3 years ago #

That's what happens when you get under-funding from the government, and having a conflict of interest besides (nowadays, there is no excuse nor reason for IE to have their "Roadliner" division—trucking and railfreight have always been competition, plus the Roadliner revenues takes IE's focus off maintaining and expanding the railway network, which Ireland desperately needs at present).
The whole privatisation of public bus routes simply has to be taken off the radar screen. DB have shown that they can generate a surplus—and the only thing standing in the way of bringing back routes such as the late lamented 8 to Dalkey are the political football games going on in Teach Laighean. Time to get all those corrupt divils out next election...Posted 3 years ago #
