67/67A

After a third day wait exceeding over an hour at the 67 bus in Celbridge I rang the controller in Phibsboro (I was then transferred to Conyngham Road) to find out what was going on.
Apparently Dublin Bus are no longer allowed to send spare buses to cover for late arrivals without applying for permission to the Dept Of Transport. This constitutes "extra buses" and us thus anti competition. "Coincidentally" Mortons Circle Line have recently been given license to run a full (whatever that means) service from Celbridge in the New Year.
    Any similar experiences?

Surprised that there aren't more of these buses what with the population growth in the area.

Personally, I've always felt that the creation of the 67A was a grave error, and that all of the route 67 buses (once the St. Patrick's Park service got cancelled) should have been extended to Maynooth, sharing the 66 terminus.

Hey, the public transport need is so grave in the area that it's already necessary to extend the 66B beyond the Barnhall terminus to Celbridge via Young's Cross, right? Really makes no sense having to either walk, cycle or drive from Leixlip to Celbridge, what with there having been a road for years upon years plus a new bridge over the Liffey being in place for a number of years as well...not to mention there being a need for more bus service in Celbridge anyway...?

well, try standing for over an hour waiting for a 67 to turn up from the salesian college. Eventually one does arrive but it seemingly "only goes as far as conyngham road garage" (which is strange as the scheduled bus should go all the way in to town, so I'm told that the bus "right behind" goes all hte way in to town. 2 hours later a bus arrives from Maynooth. This was November 18th 2004, the original bus I wanted was the 1805 from celbridge.. the bus I got was the 2040 from maynooth. It was then I resolved to learn to drive.
