If I was you I certainly would not bother asking either NBRU or SIPTU about working hours. Just recently Dublin Bus announced they would be implementing "SOME" of the 1963/1965 Road traffic act which relates to working hours YES 50 YEARS after it was brought into law and the reaction of the unions????

"It suited us not to implement it"

There is NO regard for the law in the semi state transport companies so why would there be any in the private one's.

Hey that,s Aircoach a private operator (with government funding) .All his staff are doing is making a poor man rich,or a rich man even richer .I think it,s time they got a bit of backbone and stood up for themselves

Kevin is right, but it's only fair to say that some Aircoach staff are already standing up for themselves following SIPTU's recent contacts with the drivers. Any Aircoach driver reading this is welcome to get in touch.

whats all this nonsense? F**k all is happening here. Same s**t, lots of people blabbing on hear but nobody has the bottle to do anything.

Cant blame Aircoach for non adherence to the Law. Its Ireland all over. The only thing the cops are interested in is revenue making.

No wonder no one else takes this kip seriously!

Aircoach man, I'd really like to talk to you away from this website. You can e-mail or get me at 087 250 1733.

Tt's not about one person having bottle. It's about a group of people acting together, discreetly at first, to change things at Aircoach (providing drivers want them changed).

Time waster. Let me guess, you are on First Group Management yes?

I may have mentioned this before, but is it not time for DB to give Aircoach a run for their money? In the 1980s DB ran a service from the airport to southside hotels, very similar to the present Aircoach route, but its time had not yet come and it was wound up. Nowadays the DB airport express service hardly touches the huge potential market on the southside, even though Aircoach's reputation for reliability has been slipping a good deal since it started spreading its operations too thin. The 16A airport service has become a bit of a cult but I think it is too full of cheapskate students willing to risk missing their flights to save 3 Euro or so. I say it is time for DB to resume express services from the Airport to selected southside locations.

Way to GO Dick !.......However there IS the little matter of regulation, licencing and Departmental permission before BAC could alter any of the 747/748 routing.
HOWEVER...If I were MR Dublin Bus I (and my PR Person) would be on Joe Duffy/Pat Kenny/Vincent Browne etc etc proposing just such a very course of action.
The next step in the process would be for the Dept of Transport to canvass for "Objections" which would certainly be forthcoming from any number of entities.
Then I (and my PR Person) would play the BAC trump card...
"Why Joe/Marian/Pat/Vincent,we are offering a completely different service of course.....Ours will be FULLY ACCESSIBLE to the disabled because we will utilize Low Floor Vehicles Boss"

When John O Sullivan started Aircoach the concept of Disability Access to Public Transport was already well recognized and accepted.
I Believe the Dept of Transport has serious questions to answer as to why it issued a licence for a NEW Route/Operator which failed to provide ANY Disability Access quotient in their service.

This failure to excercise reasonable oversight is now once again in focus following the Dept Of Transports recent directions to Bus Eireann on the subject of Vehicle Specification for it`s Fleet upgrade programme.

My own belief is that the issue is worth a few Parliamentary Questions at the very least...????

Db already serve the south side with the 746 route' I do believe they should have the bendy bus on this route

I think the bendis should stay on the 4 for the moment, they are coping grand enough there. Putting them on the 746 would cause problems within the Airport as there would not be enough space for 2/3 of them to terminate there with the 16A, 41, 230 and Aircoachs etc...

I do think though that, the 746 hsould be improved by:

    a) Replacing half the dutied on the 46A

    b) Operating 24 Hours a Day, with reduced frequency at night (every 30 mins)

The 746 is a slow city bus. I am referring to the need for an express coach that will pick up/let down airport passengers at convenient Southside locations, e.g. Stephen's Green.
