what is different on the 56A now?

Look here on the DB web site and find out.
Of course, after looking at that, I am trying to figure out just what is going on. The blurb claims that the 56A will no longer serve Cheeverstown Road, but that seems to be the only way to get from Maplewood Road back out to the N81 and thence to the Square.
Also noted something bizarre, where the stage list in the 56A timetable shows a stage point where Maplewood Road and Fettercairn Road intersect...but these roads do not intersect anywhere within or without Fettercairn. Cookstown Road intersects with Fettercairn Road, but that is where the 76 bus turns off.
Unless DCC has been doing more road name changes, like when they changed Ballymun Avenue to Glasnevin Avenue...?
Also, this would have been the perfect opportunity to get rid of the extraneous alpha-suffix and change the route number back to plain old 56. But these aren't the days of the birth of the City Imp, when some things at least were starting to make sense...Posted 4 years ago # -
From what i gather the 56A no longer serves Fettercairn, when the bus comes out of Maplewood Road it now turns left on to Cookstown Road towards the N81 instead of turning right and running up to the old 56A terminus at the junction of Fettercairn Road and Cheeverstown road.
This now eliminates the loop on the route where the 56A ran to the old terminus and then came back down the same stretch of road, it knocks about 3/5 mins off the journey... obviously DB felt the 76 & 77 service was an adaquate enough link between Fettercairn and The Square

Ah, OK. Isn't it awful that DB is not capable of clarity on its own notices of service alteration...?Posted 4 years ago #

Ah well not to worry....it`ll soon be the 77C and will only be runnin to Crumblin Hospital.......There`s progress for ye...!Posted 4 years ago #

Would that be sarcasm or an "official" report...? because at this point, I'll believe any bit of bad news. Will the 50 also become the 77D??
Just what is behind the increase in alpha suffixes since an tUasal Thiartobar took over DB operations...? (Sorry, that's a literal translation of "Westwell") Makes not a bit of sense, unless you want the services to get increasingly confusing and harder to use (but maybe that's the idea after all).Posted 4 years ago # -
link the 56a and the 40d into one

Al,A mhic.....It seems the 50 will become the 77B in the new run of things.
My advice to BAC is to do NOTHING for six months and then to slowly take stock.
presently the company has no solid directive as to what approach to adapt post LUAS.
In the absence of this then it should be wary of reducing its services merely because LUAS is present.

I think the Director of Traffic said that some people would not use public transport even if they were picked up from their front door and dropped to their office door.
At least many people on this site use buses/trains etc.Posted 4 years ago #
