Has anyone had any comments regarding the Garda TrafficWatch service?

I've made a few reports but never been contacted by the local Garda stations about them. Not very reassurring.
And if there is no Garda available to take the report you are told to call back later - no queue!!
And that 'speak the county' bit is a pain. (I wonder how it does with a very thick accent).

    Dont touch it...!
it is a load of PR puff designed to take pressure of the Garda top brass and their decision to remove themselves from ACTIVE law enforcment in favour of half cocked nonsense such as this.
With the almost total lack of basic roadcraft knowledge accompanied by a dose of malice then you can see the capacity for this nonsense to actually bog the force down in endless hours of yet more deskwork......awful isnt it.....?

I emailed Garda Press Office (gpro@iol.ie) and someone from there rang me.
I was surprised that she suggested I call 999!! She explained that files go from the central TrafficWatch office for the region to the local station but couldn't say how long such a transfer would take.
I'll probably drop into the station near the incident on my way home tonight. As a cyclist, having motorists turn right across my path and forcing me to jam on my brakes is not acceptable. And me with my bright yellow jacket, sam brown belt and red helmet and the sun behind the driver... what more can I do?

Alek, though I am getting there fast, I am not yet as cynical of the 'service' as you :-)

I dropped into Mountjoy Garda Station on the way home on Monday. Gave my side of the story and the Garda said he'd caution the driver.

Just keep on waiting and as the process continues consider what will occur should the car driver make a counter allegation against you..?
    Allegations made post factum.
Dont worry though....cynicism is a slowly learned gift....!
