46 this morning

Waited on Churchview Rd. this morning for the 10.05 46 from Shankill.. At about 10.30 I saw a 46, great! Only problem, it was going in the opposite direction, towards Shankill!

Had to accept it was going to be a long time before it got back so I had to board one of those speedy(!) 7s... Think I should move to Deansgrange or revolve my life around the limited 7b timetable ;-).

I'm assuming it was something to do with the fun fair in town, but it is a shame we don't have a more regular N11-QBC service like the 7B/58X. After 08.30 if you want to go to Stillorgan or into town at more than a snails pace (ala 7) then your pretty screwed. A regular 111 type feeder from Shankill to Deansgrange would give hugely speedier access to (compared to having to go to Dun Laoghaire first) Tallaght (75), Town/Stillorgan (46a) & the Airport (746) for residents of Shankill, Loughlinstown, Ballybrack & Killiney areas.

Also, when is the 7 route going to get some new buses? I'd've thought it's a busy enough route for some investment or is there too much vandalism? All those shiny 11/19a's I get when I finally reach O' Connell st. for my second bus onwards to DCU make me jealous.

    My 2c for today..

The 7 route doesn't do to badly with regard to new(ish) buses. Most of the buses allocated to the 7 group are only 5 years old. I'm sure the 7 will be at least partially converted to low-floor over the next year or two though.

An tUasal Sneachta's idea for the 111, unfortunately, makes too much sense. The bureaucrooks in Leinster House most likely would not put their stamp of approval on it—they seem to like those twice-a-day routes; like the SUV, the charm hasn't quite worn off yet... :-

Glad to see the Snowman refer to the funfair....
This little affair did manage to shut-down vast sections of the City today.
Did anybody hear the explanation from Owen Keegan delivered on Liveline...?
It appears the Director of Traffic (¤85000+) and his merry men had "Expected" more Dubliners to take a few days off work to coincide with the "Festival" and when we did`nt oblige him he went all huffy !
