Route 44 so-called diversion

Just read on www.dublinbus.ie that the 44 bus, on 27th August through 30th August between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. will be cut back to Kilternan, because the road in and out of Enniskerry, i.e. coming down the hill from The Scalp, will be closed. Now, the Dublin Bus site advertises this as a "Route 44 Diversion", but the route is not being diverted, but cut back - if the bus was really being diverted, then the trips would continue on to Enniskerry but via different roads. Speaking of that, are there any other roads one can take between Kilternan and Enniskerry at all? I haven't been in the area for years and whenever I was, I'd usually take the bus anyway. (Sometimes I'd go to Enniskerry by going to Bray first then getting the 85 bus from the train station; now I've discovered that this bus is now the 185 with some changes to the route.) Well, there you have it...Dublin Bus re-defines the word "diversion"...
