Same here. I heard later on Radio One’s webcast that the bus that was struck from the rear was my old route, the 66 :-( Don’t know if anyone I know still lives in Leixlip or uses the bus, but I’m sure to be hearing some names from my aunt who still lives out that way…

Same here. Mabey the city fathers will now see the dangers of on street bus parking and termini and provide us with a central bus station for city services using a bus only street system to get them out of town. Dont let these people have died in vain.

I was very annoyed to hear Ms grainne Macken on the news offering condolences to the families of the dead and injured and immediatly move on to the fact that this was the worst and 1st accident of its kind in DB's history. Tact and sensitivity not a strong point. Don't know how much of our news you get over there Al but DB were warned about how dangerous this terminus was 2 weeks ago as the path is narrow, people are queing for buses and passers by are trying to push through. 25, 25A, 25X, 26, 66/a/b/x, 67a/x all leave from there and there is not enough room for the buses to pull in. There is also a provincial bus stop. DB have denied there was ever a question of safety at this spot brought to there attention. 1 person was so badly mangled that they have yet to be identified. A daughter of a senior Garda was also killed. The out of service bus hit the back of the 66 mounted the pavement and struck all in the q for the 66. Completely undertook on the inside. May god rest their souls and the drivers survivors and witnesses be able to get over this terrible tragedy.

I agree with RS and would add that despite the dreadful events on Saturday, I have the highest regard for the skills of BAC drivers who I feel should be given due credit for the safe transportation of millions of people every year. through a nightmare of a city. Deepest sympathy to all involved.
