Bye-bye 59A but not Mackintosh Park service

Just confirming something that Linda alluded to in the “Left w/o Transportation” thread. The 59 and 59A, according to the DB web site, shall be “amalgamated” into a single route 59, presumably serving all of the points on both routes.

Hey, why not turn it into a big loop route and send it back to Mallin Station via the old 58 route (which went from Mackintosh Park via the 46A route)?? The timetable will be unreliable enough anyway, now with this bit of craziness introduced… :-

Al is right . usually as the 59A was at least 10 minutes late you would know there would be a 59 due a few minutes later . my mom was told by a driver that there would still be only one bus on the new extended 59 although the way the timetable is set up seems to suggest that information may not be right . however if the driver is right that is a bloody fool way of doing things . the route will take longer to run going to mackintosh park via killiney so longer waiting times can be expected . it will out people off using the bus from dun laoghire to killiney . the system as it was with the 59 and 59A was far from perfect but messsing with it like this may only make things worse .
    cheers

Why do people get the bus from Dun laoghaire to Killiney when the dart could take them quicker?

Because a great many of em are unsteady on their pins and Killiney station is somewhat closer to Angelsea than any part of the village they want to get to.Plus its ALL uphill....!!!

The railway does not serve Killiney Hill. It goes by the strand.

The railway does not serve the Dalkey Castle area either.

For both of those areas, the only choices are car, bus, or shoe-leather express.

alek smart has got it more or less right . killiney station is at the very bottom of a nasty hill and it is opposite where the old killiney court hotel used to be so no use for people wanting to get to mackintosh park .
although i live in Dalkey i live about a 15 minute walk from 3 stations so with my being lazy i prefare the 5 minute walk to the bus stop . also i am one of irelands few female bus enthusiasts i prefare the bus anyway !
again as alek smart has mentioned there are a lot of older people in the Dalkey / Killiney area . they should not have to put up with walking a long distance to get their Public transport . as a lot of them would have to if there were no buses .
    cheers
