New Livery gets under way
(10 posts)-
After a series of tests with different vehicles, Dublin Bus have chosen the two-tone blue and yellow for their new fleet standard livery, which is to replace all the old confusing brands with one single identity and colour scheme. The only exceptions will be the open-top tours, and the Airlink, which are commercially standalone operations. (though the Airlink livery is somewhat like the new livery anyway).
Repaints have now commenced, the aim is to do 10 buses a week, with the entire fleet being done within 2 years.
The new company slogan, unveiled with the new livery is: "Serving the entire community"
Incidently, 5 buses in an allover advert for Ireland's EU Presidancy will be launched on Jan 1st.

but there are plenty of communities with little or no service. Do you think we could have them up under the trades description act?

The new company slogan, unveiled with the new livery is: "Serving the entire community"
Now that is amusing because in the USA, many municipal police forces use a slogan that is slightly similar. How about stealing one from a transportation agency instead after all, there is New Yorks Metropolitan Transportation Authority with the slogan MTA Going Your Way and that is really catchy
Let us get down to the nitty-gritty, thoughHow much is all this going to cost?Posted 5 years ago # -
BTW...The new livery is increasingly being referred to as the "Centra" Colours....for obvious reasons that may not yet be apparrent in the Bronx....?Posted 5 years ago #

Well, there are residents of a certain section of the Bronx (in the Katonah Avenue area) that would know exactly what Centra is especially since you can buy Galtee bacon, sausage and pudding in that area
And does Centra have anything to say about it?
And sorry to repeat my last question, but how much dough is in the DB kitty to spend on the every-three-year repaint that has been compressed to be two years in this instance ? (I would prefer one of the classic colour schemes to make a comeback, like the one worn by the RA-class and the first Atlanteans that way, the consultants get cut off.)Posted 5 years ago # -
Al,A chairde Ghael...Having spent your time in the Colonies you are probably aware that modern business thinking is to re-inforce the position of the Consultant.....and that is what we are about in Atha Cliath ..QED !Posted 5 years ago #

I'm not impressed.
Will the new paint make the buses go faster? Will it increase the number and frequencies of buses, presumably with a go faster stripe the turnaround will be quicker?
What a load of mollicks. I would be far more impressed if DB served the entire community instead of just saying they did.
Anyay, the use of the word "entire" is superfluous as community already includes EVERYBODY. If they were to leave this word out would it speed up the rate of buspainting and reduce the overall cost of repainting?Posted 5 years ago # -
the mv minibuses aren`t being resprayed as they are being withdrawn

Some amendment to the info:
Dublin Bus did seek costings on expressing the respray programme such that everything would be done within two years, but after viewing the tender submissions, have opted not to accept the costs that it would have imposed.
Resprays into new livery will now take place only when the vehicle concerned would have been due a respray anyway - i.e. usually at a three-yearly interval in conjunction with a body overhaul.
Thus this years resprays into new livery will be the 95, 98 and 01 registered buses with the exception of a few 97s and 00s that did not get done last year.
As a result, there is no extra cost involved with the new livery - indeed, the overall cost of the normal overhaul/repaint is reduced, as contractors are offering (marginally) better rates for only having to spray into one single livery.
This does mean however, that it is likely to be end 2006 before all vehicles are in new colours.
Vehicles due to be withdrawn in the next three years will not be painted, having already had their final overhaul.
