Expansion of 7b to all day service
(6 posts)-
I and many others living in my area would love very much for the 7b to expand to an all day service.
At present, the 7b only runs at peak hours (06.55 -08.20 & 17.00-17.50). The buses are often full to capacity proving their popularity. Outside of those hours to get to/from town to/from Loughlinstown, Ballybrack or Killiney you have to take the painfully slow 7 which winds through Blackrock village & Dun Laoghaire taking up to 1hr 30mins + at times whilst the 7b flies along the QBC taking well under an hour..
Having the 7b run all day would also allow us access to Stillorgan (via N11 stop), which I have needed on numurous occasions, only having to get a lift (when available) to Deansgrange for the 46a.
I have heard rumours from UCD circles that lobbying is ongoing to get the 7b to extend its service as it provides access to its campus to/from the aforementioned areas.
Would love to know if there are any plans afoot regarding the service,
David

I think you may be hoping against hope there. However, if by some miracle the service is expanded, then they ought to use the number 46 and extend selected trips to Corbawn Lane just to maintain traditional Route 46 service.
In fact, this could have been numbered as the 46 from the beginningso why did Dublin Bus blow extra start-up money on creating a new route number? Heck, why not cut back the 7 to the Rochestown Avenue roundabout and make the new 46 (i.e. current 7B which goes nowhere near the real route 7s routing) the permanent Loughlinstown bus ?
(Sorry, but it gets quite frustrating when you start making sense and nobody listens at Uimhir Caoga Naoí, Sráid Uí Chonaill Uachtarach )Posted 5 years ago # -
count yourself lucky you can get from shankill to town in 1hr.30mins even though you are out in the sticks. This is the same journey time as the 78A from clondalkin which is no-where near as far out and is supposed to be a QBC

Sounds very much like my argument for improved service on 39A and 39B routes.Posted 5 years ago #

I would prefer to see the 58X being run throughout the day as the 58 (not an express bus) as it would serve UCD and DCU from shankill oh yeah and the airport too :o)
