Still no city timetables on Bus Éireann web site

I certainly would like to be able to peruse city timetables such as for buses going from Galway to Spiddal or from Cork to Blarney…but BÉ does not make them available such as they appear on the Dublin Bus web site. Now why is that?

Their departure search is horrid and primitive also. How are they supposed to prevent me from renting a car again and tearing up the back roads next time I pay my beloved home land a visit…?

You are dead right there Al.
The CIE group site appears to be from a German background and as such is incredibly cumbersome to navigate through.....and SLOW too.
Take a peep at www.scottishcitylink.co.uk for an idea of what it COULD be like ..

  3. All the CIE websites (as well as the Luas/RPA site) are designed by the same company, in the style of corporate sites for some monolithic corporation, not at all like easy to use sites for a transport company.

There isn't even the faintest glimmer of integratation between their services, and even their timetables use different formats to store/search/display information. This is simply bad practice and should be discouraged strongly.

If you're unlucky enough to be on a slow connection, you'll be waiting a while for any of their sites to load up at all. When they do you'll find that when navigating around it's easier to find out who is head of PR, or what a good deal you can get on a bag or crisps at Centra (!), than what buses you should get if if you are planning a journey from Shankill to Swords, or Killarney to Tralee.

Our solution: do what airlines do, offer a feed of timetable information in some universal format (xml perhaps) so bods like us can take and display the information in a quick and easy fashion for the end user. I don't care about all the guff on the Dublin Bus site, I care about getting up-to-date information quickly and cheaply.
