DB’s token gesture—“doubling” bus service parallel to DART

    Among the “doubling” shall be routes 7 as well as the 59/59A—certainly nothing that makes sense, such as resurrecting route 8. The only other bus routes to be “doubled” are the 45/45A, 46A, and 84.

    This other article off the Irish Rail web site, about the same (bungled) project, reveals that weekend rail service to places like Arklow and Rosslare will also suffer, with “bustitution” occurring at either Greystones or Arklow stations.

    This project is supposed to cost a mere €176 million??? No wonder they are taking their time and doing it wrong. Heck, even the price tag is no real excuse—on other railway systems, there is no excuse to cancel any service for mere platform upgrades. What a load of…
