(8 posts)-
why is there no bus route for connaugt steet.i live in shandon gardens and i have to go to cabra for the 120 or to phibsboro for the 19,19A,83.a bus should run from kimmage and instead of going through the phibsboro rd,it should turn up connaught street to the faussagh road rounabout and turn back.it should be the 82 or the 83A.

Never has been a bus on Connaught Street to my memory, not even the 12, which turned around right before Faussagh Road became Connaught Street. My only idea for that would be to re-route the 120 via Connaught Street instead of Dowth Avenue, then operate via Phibsborough Road to Western Way and go to O'Connell Street via Berkeley Street, Blessington Street, North Frederick Street and Parnell Square East (northbound via Parnell Square West, Granby Row and the left side of St. Mary's Place North to Western Way). That would mean one less bus route via Berkely Road/Street, but boo-hoo, besides you'll still have the 10, 38/A/B/C and the 121 and it also gives DB an excuse to convert the 120 to double-deckers (yippee)

as there is about 4/5 120 in an hour leaving cabra so why not have a 120 every hour operating via connaught street e.g. 0850,0910*,0930...
*=operates via connaught street western way(not serving dowth avenue, cabra rd,berkeley rd.)

2 cars cannot pass at the best of times im connaught st and what happens on a match night? double parking crowds in the streets and a very short green light onto phibsborough. There is a clue that buses may be about to use connaught st as they have installed speed cushions as used on all bus routes instead of ramps. So it may happen yet. Also cars taking an illegal right turn from the shopping centre block the road and backs up traffic in phibsboro. I would also like to point out that shandon gardens is not far from the 120 stop on Dowth ave.

why did you resurect this discussion posted nearly 2 years ago?
anyway
the plan to put cushions in was abolished and the cabra community council are campaining for ramps in the area.
the best option would be to put in the big ramps at each junction along dowth avenue and one at the A.I.B. bank.
