Are all of the IMPs on the 123 route being replaced with double deckers? There were a good few double deckers on that route this morning.

This confused me for a moment, because when I think of Imps I think of those tiny little buses (of which, last I heard, there were only about 25 in service and are in the process of being withdrawn).
As far as the Imps on the 123 route goes, these are newer buses (as far as I know), so i'd be surprised if they are being replaced already. However, there are moves in Dublin Bus to revert many routes back to double decker service.
Anybody else have more information on this?Posted 5 years ago # -
I had a dig around the site, looks like your answer is at this link:

Nothing so final in this particular case - some of the lowfloor single-deckers from the 123 (which are in IMP livery) are to be used for the Special Olympics, so you may see more double-decks straying onto the route over the next 2 weeks.
The ones used today were brand new buses, just delivered, and stored in Broadstone for use themselves during the S.O. before being delivered on to toher garages as per my earlier post.

As I understand it after the special olympics are finished that Phibsboro's new allocation of double decks are going onto route 123, along with those on the 121, and the displaced midibuses going onto the 121 which has much lower loadings.

The new face of the former City Imp route 123. You ask me, it could have started like this, just with greater frequency and the newer RA-class, but that is the way it goes, I suppose. Forward to the past
