Still gives me a headache as to how DB handled that one. First, they extended the 41 into Swords Manor, making it a two-branch route for the first time since the dual service to either Glassmore or Lissenhall. In the same breath, they keep having the 43 terminate on Main Street when it could have been extended into Glassmore, leaving the 41 as the Swords Manor bus. Now, they resurrect the 41A to serve Glen Ellan...but also have certain trips on the 43 serve Glen Ellan too. Meanwhile, Glassmore gets less service than it ever did before, served by both the 41 and 41B. Gimme a break...

Glassmore in Swords--indecision on which route to send there...??

Most of the routes out to Swords are a nightmare, believe me!
As far as the above goes, it looks like DB are patching up an existing service as they go, and as Swords is growing bigger by the day, the holes in their patchwork are becoming more obvious all the time.
Apart from the times in the timetable having very little to do with the reality of daily use of the route(s), some of the routing itself seems to depend on the driver. By this I refer to the imfamous via airport/not via airport situation.
While the timetable might say that a particlar bus does not go via the airport, you can get on the bus at eden quay and discover that regardless of the advertising, it *does* go to the airport. the same thing has happened to me in reverse, I've gotten on a scheduled service that is meant to go via the airport only to discover that it skips it.
Add to this the idiotic situation of scheduling several 41Cs to leave town at roughly the same time as the 41, thus leading to the cliched situation of people waiting at the bus stop for ages and then seeing at least 2 buses come at once (knowing how bad the buses are, most people will hop on a 41c if they see one, as they have no idea when the 41 is going to show up).
I've learnt my lesson, the fastest route to swords is to buy a pack of rambler tickets, take the 747 to the airport and catch a connecting bus to Swords from there.Posted 5 years ago # -

Has anyone noticed that since the introduction of the Fingal flyer 41 that there is less journeys on the 41's in general? Also on this line the new improved 78A timetable has 31 journeys a day less from Liffey Valley?

Also Glassmore park, the old 41 terminus is 1 minute walk from where the 41 now leaves you.

The 41 is crap now. Why didn't we get any more journeys on the timetable after the QBC came in? Twice this year I waited at the stop outside JC's supermarket for A WHOLE HOUR. I noticed that at least two empty buses past me by. They could hardly both be buses in need of service. If they're moving they should be running. The worst thing is if you ask a driver what's the story he says he hasn't got a clue. And one time I asked about the real time information thing coming on stream and he ate the face off me. I am going to get a bicycle for Christmas and then get the DART from then on. The reliability even from the DART would be miles better.

You think the 41 route is bad... try living on the 41c route.. It has to be the only route where the frequency improves after 11pm. Before that its one an hour and after it the nitelink to River Valley goes every 20 minutes!
Also, I think if it followed the nitelink route (i.e. left at the coachmans) you wouldn't get half as many 41ers on it and it might be able to pick up some people after Gardiner street...
