: A gripe about the fare increases......
: We all know that Dublin Bus recieves a huge amount of extra money on top of the fares it charges by giving us those crappy paper slips instead of real change.
My advice Petey babe......Offer it up as a token of thanks to all those understanding passengers sitting further down the bus and watching you remonstrate with the grumpy oul driver over your 10c change ticket,in turn causing more delay to their already delayed journey as they watched the geezer at the last stop go through the same pahlavah.....some of the customers are soooo patient...
Some people waiting for buses actually do bother to sort through their moohlah and manage to have something approaching a correct fare...whilst others simply react as if the Starship Enterprise had pulled up beside them and beamed them aboard....Phasers to Stun, Mr Data !!!
Of course when your righteous indignation has finally dissapated one could bundle up all those thousands of change tickets, monuments to a disorganized lifestyle, put them in a wheelbarrow and wobble away to your nearest charity shop, most of which will be only too glad
to accept them for redemption en-bloc...Concern,GOAL,St Vincent de Paul...to name a few.
OR ! One could buy a prepaid ticket and avoid the grumpy oul driver altogether OR !! buy a very chic little pocket coin organizer which allows you to flick the correct coins straight out.....
Where theres a will.....theres a way.....for those that want it !!

Hey...if it's enough so that they can cover 100 per cent of expences out of the fare box, I say let them keep it. Then, however, you have to put pressure on the politicians to reduce your taxes, since DB is now "self-sufficient".
I haven't heard anyone complain about the "Outer Suburban 2" fare going up to €3 yet...
Hey, it could be worse, you could be using Bus Eireann local service. It's always been available, for about double the DB fare.
______________________________________________________________________________________
: A gripe about the fare increases......
: We all know that Dublin Bus recieves a huge amount of extra money on top of the fares it charges by giving us those crappy paper slips instead of real change.
: I understand that they cannot spend this money as we all may suddenly decide to claim it from what ever big bank account they keep it in, but what I do realise is that they must be making HUGE interest on the grand total by now considering how long the paper change system has been in operation.
: Therefore how can they possibly justify any fare increases considering that probably 35% of cash passengers give AT LEAST 10cent extra per journey???
: If you work this out, over the two year or so period (or is it more?) we have had the paper change system, the grand total of idle money must be huge, even at a very low interest rate, i bet the return is quite profitable.........
: all your thoughts please....????
