at last somebody who recognises the difficult job bus drivers do in dublin.if a bus is late its more than likely to do with traffic or the large volumes of passengers, not cause we are sitting eating doughnuts in the garage which i think a lot of narrow minded people believe,by the way i am a driver on the 39 route and i agree something has to be done or changed as it is getting worse and will continue to get worse.sometimes it can take 2hours to complete the route, that is ridiculous.and contrary to belief not all drivers want to be late for breaks or finishing just to get an hours overtime

Meant to say, most if not all of the bus drivers on our route do an exceptional job and don't get the credit they deserve!! - they often get a raw deal from commutes and often little thanks.

While I commute Mon-Fri on a bus which travels through the blanch centre and it can be a nightmare when you get stuck there in traffic - I do have a car - you do have to remember not everyone does so some people ie. elderly people/ people with disabilities and people with young children would rely on a bus which passes close to the centre. We do need a solution as the current situation is a win for no one but we need to ensure all members of the community are taken care of.

Stevie, I reckon that you may be a bit off the mark.

When the so called bus lanes are put into operation in the centre, all it'll mean is that the bus will go in a different direction.

It'll still have to double back on itself and it'll still have to compete with the stupid car drivers exiting and entering the centre.

On a good day it takes the bus at least 7 minutes to get from the entrance roundabout back to the same roundabout. At all the bad times I get off the bus at Sheepmoor and walk on up to Huntstown and I can guarantee I'm seldom passed by the bus, come to think of it, even the bus in front doesn't pass me.

The simple solution is a dedicated roadway for the bus only, to the exclusion of all other traffic, except maybe emergency vehicles.

It's really a wonder that the Centre is doing anything at all as I thought they didn't want buses in there at all and wanted to keep all the roads there a preserve for the private motor car shoppers.

i do have a clue - i live my life with one - - try coming home every day and having to listen to the " dRIVER " moan about sitting in traffic but you get paid for it - so get over it - - us everyday workers have to sit in it and not get paid - so you lucky in that way
[posted by: omac12002]

coz the buses wont be stuck in centre for half hour, its avoiding the front of the centre and going round the dunnes side to load/offload,bus lanes on both side of road, obviously going to save a lot of time

just to let any one know who uses the 39 route at long last the situation in the shopping centre seems to have been resolved.a bus lane on both sides of the road on the dunnes stores side will be in operation by october.the buses will be re routed to that side of centre.in the meantime until october there is a number of implementations togive the bus priority through the centre, good news for some id say who go to ongar, clonsilla or the loop
