Yes, they are the ones. The bell can ring once from downstairs, once from upstairs (bleep) and once from the wheelchair area (louder bleep). The "bus stopping" signs have been in use with Dublin Bus since 1993, first appearing on the P type bus.
[posted by: P]

Does it stop the bell from ringing, and can the driver see it? If so, then that's the one. (Hmm, good to see that DB has made it into the 1980s then, if you described the device correctly.)

What exactly is the policy nowadays, do you have to ring the bell, or can you call out "next stop please" like you always used to be able to do ever since the Atlanteans first came on-line...?

Bruigh amhain, tarraing amhain...just make sure you let the driver know to stop at the next stop. Perhaps a "Stop Requested" light ought to illuminate once the bell is operated? That's what a lot of US buses have on them, to prevent excessive bell-ringing.

Interestin stuff.....Rumours abound of a new and less "Customer Friendly" approach to Staff Relations following a Management Reshuffle at Dublin Bus..?
Could this perhaps be something resulting from the new policy ??
