Now that the Bertie Bowl is dead there is no chance whatsoever that the development of West Dublin will proceed with a rail network servicing the Blanchardstown Centre, Corduff, Abbotstown, Finglas, Dublin Airport, and Swords ( and then to run on to Malahide).

Great vision has been shown in the blinkered approach to the development of this area of growing population. Whatever happens, make sure we don't provide for the future. The present politicians can be thanked for this. Well done lads.

Now that we are reaping the benefit of corrupt politicians, officials and developers in the failed planning of Dublin it looks like we need to bring back the bent politicians and bribary and corruption in order to get anything started again.

Their preferred transport solution? An hour and a half each way into town in a little individual tin box and be grateful

That is what killed the Celtic Tiger. Billions of monetary units are lost due to traffic jams. Getting decent rail transport in the country, in a timely fashion, could have saved it, but no, suddenly everyone at the NRA is a Robert Moses clone, what with the “roads good, rail bad” mentality. Whoops…

In addition, would you say that in terms of operating bus routes that the Motto of "Obedientia Civium Omnibus Felicitas" applies? :-D
[posted by: Luaswatcher]

Mr. Howick has been getting away with (begging your pardon) smartalecery on the subject of Luas for a long time now, but rest assured, the Skibbereen Eagle has it's eye on the Tsar of Russia ;-)
[posted by: Luaswatcher]

That may well be true, but I can assure the erstwhile readers that while a resident of the Ranelagh area Peter Howick was a daily user of the Bus Service.
More to the point, when not using a Rambler,he ALWAYS had his correct fare ready and went about his business.
Now...I most certainly WILL accept opionated criticism from ANY regular bus user,so snipe away Peter.
BTW apart from Ruari Quinn, who is a regular on the 3 route I am at odds to name any other regular political Bus users....?

Anyone see the "hilarious" picture that Peter Howick published on his page today in the Herald? It was of a football pitch on the side of a hill and this picture purported to be the National Stadium as built by the builders of Luas. According to the laff-a-year Mr. Howick, said picture was doing the rounds of the Department of Finance.

I can just imagine what sort of transport system the Herald and Finance would design if they would have their way.

None at all.

Their preferred transport solution? An hour and a half each way into town in a little individual tin box and be grateful.
[posted by: Luaswatcher]
