thats what our so called beloved government get paid for, they got them in, they can get them out. how many taxi's do you see using the bus lanes with only one passenger, i 'd say hundreds everyday. or at least introduce a system like london where buses have right of way. once their indicators blink more than twice they must be let out no matter who or what is beside them.

thw only way the 39 route might work is to take all taxi's out of the bus lanes. there are way to many taxi's out there clogging up the bus lanes

Blanchardstown is an area that really warrants a total rethink in the way of bus route planning. The trunk route 39 has be modified, extended redirected, to an extent that it serves no part of its passengers in the most efficient way. The main idea of my plans would be to do use the idea of .. before and run buses through the phoenix park. This was the original plan for the 39 cityswift, i think?? Burocracy should be cast aside for the welfare of the public transport user.
The second thing that I would call for would be contra-flow bus lanes on the quays. With the hopeful traffic-calming on the quays with the opening of the port tunnel I would think this to be a wise move. Also in the provision of services in the Littlepace/Castaheny housing development I would call for a bus gate from Huntstown Wood, to Littlepace Road, something which I believe Dublin Bus have applied for.

Cityservices:

Route 35: City - Phibsborough - Cabra Raod - Navan Road - Blanch Village - Blanch Centre - Mulhuddart - Ladyswell - IBM Damastown.
(daytime: 20 / peaks: 16 / offpeak: 30)

Route 36: City - Phibsborough - Cabra Road - Navan Road - Blanch Village - Blanch Centre - Huntstown Way - Hunstown Wood - Littlepace Road - Ongar Road (Last roundabout westwards on the littlepace road take a left) - Ongar Wood - Clonsilla Road - Clonsilla Station.
(daytime: 20/ Peaks:16 / Offpeak: 30)

Routes 35 and 36 are interlaced to provide a service of (10/8/15). These will also be the direct services to Blanch S.C.

Route 37: City - North Quays - Stoneybatter - Navan Road - Auburn Avenue - Castleknock Road - Laurel Lodge - Riverwood (Southern part of loop) - new link road to Blanch Road South - Blanch Centre.
(daytime:10 / Peaks: 8 / Offpeak: 15)

Route 37 is interlaced with 35 and 36 to provide Navan Road with a service of (5/4/7.5)

Route 38: City - North Quays - Phoenix Park - Blanch Village - Blanch Hospital - Corduff (will use the longway round, i.e. along Blackhorse Road and turn facing Warrenstown) - Blanch Road North - Link Road - Tyrellstown.
(15/10/20)

Note: The 38 and 39 will not stop between Blanch Village and Ellis Quay and therefore the route taken between these points will be at the discretion of the driver.

Route 39: City - North Quays - Phoenix Park - Blanch Village - Clonsilla Road - Shelerin Road - Hartstown Road - Hunstwon Way - Blanch Centre.
(10/8/15)

Route 70: City - North Quays - Stoney Batter - Navan Road - Blanch By-Pass - Clonee Village - Dublin Road - Dunboyne.
(60/30/60)

Route 172: City - North Quays - Blackhall Place - Oxmanstown Road - Blackhorse Avenue - Castleknock Road - College Road - Carpenterstown Road - Riverwood Loop - Coolmine Road - Coolmine Industrial Estate - Blanch Road South - Blanch Centre & this would be perfect
[posted by: wwe]

I agree commuting from the Blanchardstown area to the city centre in particular is a nightmare -I used to take a 39 in the morning - I have recently changed to take a 70 in the morning (to avoid the Clonsilla Rd) and a 39X home - I would like to see more 39X's in the morning say starting at 6:30am and finishing up at 6:30/ 7pm in the evening. Traffic management needs to be seriously looked at too - everyone knows what a nightmare the town centre can be adding anywhere up to an hour at Christmas time onto your home journey - in the mornings the Clonsilla Road and Blanchardstown Village can be a nightmare if you get a bus after 7am - a two/ two and a half hour morning commute cannot be acceptable when we live 9 miles outside the city. I think until we have an efficent and convenient public service in D15 there is no incentive for people to leave the car at home. I think the N3 is under a lot of pressure from commuters in Navan/ Kells and the Greater D 15 area - we need a train line coming from Navan with more trains and park and ride facilities along the way to get people to leave their cars at home. It's only then we will see a real improvement in our commute.

Has anyone else out there any views on the phenomenon of the bus "service" in the Ballymun Area?

In particular, I am looking for views relating to the 13, 13a, 17a, 19a, 103, 104 and 220 routes.

As you may know, the service on these routes leaves a lot to be desired. Complaints to Dublin Bus don't seem to achieve any results. Is there anyone interested in forming a 13 route users group?

What have you got to say about the service on these routes?
[posted by: M.C.J.Kenny]

Something must be done though.

The situation is going to deteriorate further when the Port Tunnel starts diverting traffic onto the M50. The backed up traffic on the Blanchardstown interchange is going to get much much worse.

Then there's the Tallaght Luas to slow things up at Benburb Street, every five minutes.

Added to this Ireland still has below average car ownership rates when compared with the rest of the EU (15) but above average income. So that gap will narrow and there are likely to be more cars on the road, not less.
You have obviously put a LOT of thought into this CB. It'll take me a while to disgest your ideas.

I think that a non-stop service from the city centre to Blanchardstown 7 days a week would solve a lot of problems. Serving Blanchardstown and then non-stop into the Quays.

(60/30/60)

Route 172: City - North Quays - Blackhall Place - Oxmanstown Road - Blackhorse Avenue - Castleknock Road - College Road - Carpenterstown Road - Riverwood Loop - Coolmine Road - Coolmine Industrial Estate - Blanch Road South - Blanch Centre.
(20/15/30)

[posted by: CB]

I am very interested in forming a group to improve all 39 services. (Because I have to suffer them at least twice a day.) Please leave a message.

Alec, I don't think any of the gentlemen you mentioned have ever travelled on the 39 route or would be of any help in solving the problem.
Joe Higgins TD has a problem with a service that affects people only once a week. I would prefer if he turned his attention to Dublin Bus and became active in solving this problem that affects his constituents twice a day.
Just a thought, when the LUAS is opened and up and running, people along the routes will be able to use the trams instead of the buses. That means there could be more buses and drivers available for the 39 route. What do you think?

Yes Jacinta, I know exactly what you're saying. The buses can be full on their way to let loads of people off at the centre, or indeed at the school two stops after mine.
Did you see that the 39A is going on its old route again and is'nt going into the centre any more? This saves about 10 to 15 minutes on the inward journey in the morning. This is an improvement but they really are only tinkering with the timetable rather than providing a service. We need a similar service going out of town, not just the two in the evening.

It's a pity that Dublin Bus don't put on more buses that bypass Coolmine and go straight into Blanchardstown or else on the Blanchardstown bypass. If they did that they might get more people to leave their cars at home.

You should really e-mail Dublin Bus directly about the Saturday service because if enough people complain something might be done. Send an e-mail to noel.dorgan@dublinbus.ie and keep reminding him until something is done.

Hi i live in the Blanch area and like u, i find the bus service terrible. Take for example early morning services to town. The bus is full as it comes to whitestown and doesn't stop but unloads loads of passangers at centre,so like me if u live in Whitesown u have to walk to stop after centre to get a bus.
The other ironic thing i find is that they "Dublin Bus" ammended the 1st buses in the morning on a weekday but haven't changed the early Saturday bus time in over 5 years! I work in Town and start some saturdays at 7.15am, i am always late as our 1st bus isn't till 6.30am.
Do you find you have the same problems?

Has anyone else out there any views on the phenomenon of the bus "service" in the Greater Blanchardstown Area?

In particular, I am looking for views relating to the 39, 39A, 39B and 39X routes.

As you may know, the service on these routes leaves a lot to be desired. Complaints to Dublin Bus don't seem to achieve any results. Is there anyone interested in forming a 39 route users group?

What have you got to say about the service on these routes?
