I find it a disgrace that the two Luas lines will not be connected at any point. Watching the recent Primetime programme with Seamus Brennan I was incensed that he and the government still don't know what they're doing six years on, or what they're going to do in the future. Metro is up in the air, Luas is allowed to run down the tubes of inefficiency and the buses are so bad even on the so-called QBC's. Why didn't the media cover the Green Party's "Join the Dots" postcard campaign? This was launched on Thursday 18th and is a letter to the Minister demanding that he link the two Luas lines in the city centre to make the project viable. This is exactly the type of campaign I like to hear the Greens running, but I'm angry that the media as usual ignored it.

Yup, that’s them all right; I was just rather loath to put them into name as it were.

How do you like those trams? Lots of glass, great targets for drunk/high punters to throw rocks at (like I recall had been done to some City Imp buses on the former route 134 up in Finglas). Perhaps the RPA should have settled on something with a tougher exterior…?

See this Irish Examiner article for more details.

This article includes the (remote?) possibility of Luas Line A being converted to an underground line…that is, within the next twenty years. Has everything turned so blasted sensational when it comes to transportation projects in the media? Honestly, I can see Line B becoming a so-called “metro” what with it actually being based on a former heavy-rail line, but absolutely not Line A. The costs to submerge Line A would be utterly insane, especially within the city centre. I can see attempting to remove a lot of the problem areas, such as Steeven’s Lane, the N7 at the junction of Davitt Road, plus the Red Cow Roundabout, but that line will never become a full-fledged underground line—there has been too much investment in it.

What makes me laugh is an tUasal Brennan saying things like “Luas is gone” and in the same breath saying that he himself doesn't want a “patchwork quilt” of rail lines versus an “integrated” system. Well then, why listen to the French consultants at all?? Should’ve built the blasted thing as a five-foot-three gauge underground DART to begin with. >:-( No more back-pedalling…get on with it.
