I would advise every Driver to fight being transfered no matter how attractive the package is.The government will fund the transfer packages in order to break up C.I.E. but god help anybody who goes to work for these private operators. It is the Drivers who will pay the ULTIMATE price in the end.
[posted by: concerned]

Drivers being transfered from Dublin Bus to a private operator will be covered by EEC Directive 2001/23. What this Directive does is guarantee your present working conditions for one year and after that everything is open for re-negotiation.This is a nightmare situation for any Driver to find himself in.EEC Directive 2002/15 (working time directive) allows you to work for only 48 hours a week, but how you work them will be decided by your new employer. It would not be in contravention of any European or Irish health and safety laws.If you would like to read these Directives, just post another message.
[posted by: concerned]

just a thought, chances are that drivers being transfered to a private operator will find themselves working longer shifts, split shifts, shorter breaks, lower wages and a general drop in work conditions. would this be in contravention of eu health & safety regulations?
