I was lucky or unlucky enough to board the 133 along with my son, from Wicklow Town last friday to go into dublin city. The lady on the phone told me the bus went through bray & into the city & I paid for that.
When we reached Glen of the downs a bunch of people got on and off & I thought no more about that. The drivers had a chat & then we took off again.
Later in Bray we were alone on the bus the driver was surprised we were there wondered where we were goin & when we told him said "why didnt u get off at Glen of the Downs"??!!
Apparently everyone knows this, I asked him where he was goin but he wouldnt say. It was 10am & we expected 2b in the city by 10.30. The driver then hailed a dublin bus told the driver the story & we had to board that. Our original driver I imagine went for a break. We sat on the 145 for ONE HOUR & having left Wicklow Town at 9.05 arrived at stephens green at 11.00am.
Bus rage I know all about it. (by car this journey takes 45 mins.)
[posted by: dolly_angel]

Whilst enjoying the suburban sprawl tour de forve that is the 84 to Newcastle, myself and my travelling companions mused upon which is DB's longest route on a terminus to terminus milage basis. I said either 84 or 65. Does anybody know?
[posted by: David]

Per RTE news article (link).

The gist is that the National Roads Authority (remember them?) want to build a ring road by-passing Waterford right on top of these newly-discovered remains of a Viking settlement.

The settlement has Martin Cullen, Minister for the Environment, and Dr. Pat Wallace, director of the National Museum, on its side, with Dr. Wallace calling for the site to be excavated fully. If they can help stop the building of said road over this historic find, I'm behind them 100 per cent. Anything to stop Ireland from looking more and more like New Jersey...

Looked at this page on the Bus &#201ireann web site…apparently, this is a NiteLink-like service for people going between Dublin and Drogheda, with outbound buses running as late as 3 a.m.

Meanwhile, Iarnród &#201ireann’s last train from Connolly to Drogheda departs at 10:24 p.m. What’s wrong with this picture…?

the bus service from dingle to tralee is an absolute farse. every sunday night (and bank-holiday mondays) i have to travel back up from dingle to dublin, a long enough jouney without the added problem of the incapable Bus Eireann.
the latest train leaves Tralee at 17.05 yet the Dingle bus only reaches Tralee at 17.15. the alternative to driving the hour twice every weekend would be to get the earlier bus at 1300, which would leave 3 hours wasted in Tralee town. if i do so the entire day is ruined and spent traveling.
could you PLEASE not alter the timetable even slightly so that it would arrive on time for the last train??
could somebody in Bus Eireann please read and reply to this and explain why you wish to put us comuters at a huge inconvenience.
if this isnt taken into consideration then this web-site is meaningless waste of space.
anyone agree???

[posted by: jane]
