Can anybody explain the logic of the Airport Services. The services include 747 Express, 16A, 41s and 746. The Airport Travellers are flocking to the local services costing 2Euro whilst at the nearby express bus stop, costing 6Euro, much less activity can be observed. I wonder why! It would appear that the services are competing with each other. The effect on the local bus services are that buses are often crowded and loaded with luggage leaving people with buggies, disabilities and elderly without seating and accomodation for buggies or wheelchairs. It is galling to observe near empty express buses passing local bus stops whilst local buses are jammed. In addition, the combined numbers of buses on the route (Somewhere between 200 and 300 daily) must be causing unnecessary pollution and congestion. Who Cares????

I am from Dalkey and I have to say that there is a huge lack of proper bus routes to and from the area.I just want some opinions.I know that the 59, 8 and 7D serve the area. However, the 7D only has two bus journeys in the morning and one evening return. It goes into town via UCD. The 8 comes 7 times a day each way Monday to Friday with no weekend services. The 59 only drops people off at Mackintosh Park. I think it is rediculous having to go to Blackrock or Dun Laoghaire to get various bus routes. The point I am trying to get at is that Dalkey lacks proper direct connectivity with the Dual Carriageway, Sandyford and other areas of importance (More so than Mackintosh Park). Would anyone agree with me that the demand is there in the Dalkey, Killiney and Sandycove area for west bound bus routes?
[posted by: Patrick Brophy]

Does anybody know anything about the planned route of the new, improved No. 8 bus which is supposedly due to enter service December 12th as reported in yesterday's Irish Times ? It appears it won't go through Dun Laoghaire (good) but slightly vague as to how it will get from Glasthule to Monkstown

Anyone know if there are any plans to improve the service on St Margarets Road, past Lanesborough. A lot of new development there and only the very infrequent 40 b passes directly, otherwise must walk 15 minutes for 19/19a or 83.

The plan is to make it available on this site, web master permission permitting of course.

On a similar topic, I entered the Longford/Maynooth/Dublin train timetable for a TrainSched app written by a French guy. My code is heavily influenced/copied from his app. I can provide this database and app to any interested parties.
Has anyone else out there any views on the phenomenon of the bus "service" in the Greater Blanchardstown Area?

In particular, I am looking for views relating to the 39, 39A, 39B and 39X routes.

As you may know, the service on these routes leaves a lot to be desired. Complaints to Dublin Bus don't seem to achieve any results. Is there anyone interested in forming a 39 route users group?

I've had enough.

Seriously.

Not only do I not have a car, I can't drive. Which means I am totally dependant on public transport. Which is the cause of my desperation.

I've lived on the Swords side of the 41 bus route for almost 8 years now. And its always been terrible. Never the most frequent bus service in the world, its levels of service have now deteriorated to appalling lows. Its the sort of bus that you have to go out for a certain time, coz if you just go out on the off-chance of getting a bus, you'll be waiting ages. But now, the bus drivers appear to change the route depending on the traffic, or their mood at that particular time. And I'm sick of it. And I don't know what to do. I'm sick and tired of waiting for over an hour because 5 drivers in a row decided that they didn't want to go around the pavillions roundabout, and took a short cut through the village instead, bypassing my stop. And I'm sick of coming home from town late at night, and adding a 15 minute walk down a badly lit road, coz of the same reason. And if I decide to get the bus home from the airport on a sunday, why of course the drivers will leave it out of their route coz traffic was heavy and they were behind schedule.

Is the 41 the only route that drivers can arbitrarily omit parts of their route because they can't be bothered sitting in traffic ? And if the traffic is such an issue, why don't they post notices at the bus stops that are left out, advising passengers to go to the village at certain times ? Or advise passengers on boarding the bus, that they will be making a change to their route ?

And what can I do about this ? If I write yet another letter to Dublin Bus customer service, it will be ignored. If I call their customer service lines, no doubt I will receive some standard line about how they are looking into the matter, but nothing will change. How can I effect some real change and get the sort of bus service that my friends have ? Buses that actually arrive a decent interval apart, and go the route they are scheduled to take. Advice please ! Coz I really can't take this anymore....

...also known as the southern half of the 13 for many years; before that, the Beechwood segment and Palmerston Park segment split severally between the 13 and former route 12 (respectively).

So what do people on Palmerston Road do for transport now? Not like there,s a Luas stop at every location there used to be a bus stop on that road. They haven,t diverted any other bus down there to serve it. So, it,s either walk to the Luas station, or walk to Upper Rathmines Road for the 14A, from now on?

Choices are indeed dwindling for public transport passengers...
